LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Investigators said Louisa Vice Mayor Mary Clarke and her grandson have been arrested on assault charges after a domestic situation Friday.
Major Donald Lowe, with the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, said an altercation started between the vice mayor’s grandson, 19-year-old James Clarke III, and her husband, James Clarke Sr. on Friday.
Lowe said Vice Mayor Clarke and her grandson allegedly assaulted Clarke Sr. during the incident.
As a result, the vice mayor was charged with one count of domestic assault and battery. The magistrate issued an emergency protective order stipulating no violent contact, which allowed her to go back to her home.
James Clarke III, who was also charged with domestic assault and battery, was held on a $1500 secured bond.
The magistrate also issued an emergency protective order stipulating no contact, which means he could not return home, so he was transported to the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange County.
Lowe said no one was seriously injured in the altercation.
