RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- Sleet and freezing rain worked its way through Central Virginia Friday morning.  So how did drivers on the slick and potentially icy roads fair?  All indications point to not bad.

Out of the 21 counties and four cities the Virginia State Police cover in the Richmond area, they only reported five vehicle accidents during the peak of precipitation, and one of those involved a deer.

Chesterfield County, Henrico County, and Richmond city all said their Police Departments responded only to minor wrecks, and none with injuries.

VDOT crews were on the ready if conditions got hazardous.

But a spokesperson told CBS 6 outside of treating a few bridges on 288 for precautionary reasons, those crews saw little action.

And that's good news too many drivers who tackled the slick roads this morning.  Drivers like John Pittman, who drives a medical transport van and was out in peak of the sleet.

"Just take your time when it's snowing," said Pittman.
