RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – In October 1992, Chris Munnings and videographer Neil Gerotonoy were filming a Patrick Henry High School football game in Ashland and spotted the Peekskill meteorite streaking across the sky.
According to Science Discovery’s website, the Peekskill meteorite is one of the top 10 meteorites. It streaked across the sky from Kentucky to Pennsylvania and landed on a parked car in Peekskill, N.Y.
The Russian meteor is just one of many meteors to reach the Earth’s surface. In 1908, Science Discovery says a meteor exploded over the Siberian Region with a force comparable to an atomic bomb.
Here’s a list of the top ten meteors from Science Discovery.
