STUDIES: ‘Going green’ is good for the heart; being single isn’t
(CBS News) – Consider becoming a vegetarian if you want a healthier heart.
Oxford researchers looked at 45,000 patients and found people who don’t eat meat have a 32 percent lower risk of being hospitalized with heart disease. The findings also show vegetarians have lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
In a separate heart study, doctors say being single is a real heart breaker.
Researchers say single people are about 60 percent more likely to suffer a heart attack. They’re also at a higher risk of dying from a heart problem.
Researchers aren’t sure why, but say married people tend to have healthier habits and are more likely to take medications regularly
