HOUSTON, Texas (KHOU) -- A former Houston-area middle school teacher fired last year for an alleged relationship with a then eight grader was back in court Saturday.

Twenty-nine-year-old Kathryn Murray lost her job with the Spring Branch school district in 2012 after she was charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student.

Police said Murray and the teen, now 16, were discovered at Murray's father's home Friday night.

Murray was charged for harboring him as a runaway on Saturday.

When the relationship allegations first surfaced last year, the teen's mother said she hoped all contact would end.

"We're not good. We are very hurt" she said. "My son is really confused, hurt, we are working with him very closely but he's not good. Not good at all."

Though she's no longer an employee, the school district released a statement calling Murray's behavior "despicable."

A judge had ordered Murray to give up her passport because she and the boy allegedly  she had made plans to flee to Mexico.
