“Game of Thrones” actor and former Dr. Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
His manager confirmed the news with the BBC, and released a statement.
“Wilko wishes to offer his sincere thanks for all the support he has had over his long career,” the statement reads, “from those who have worked with him to, above all, those devoted fans and admirers who have attended his live gigs, bought his recordings and generally made his life such an extraordinarily full and eventful experience.”
Wilko, age 65, plays the mute knight Ilyn Payne on the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” which is based off of the best-selling novels by George Martin.
Johnson was guitarist in Dr. Feelgoo, which disbanded in 1977, and he still has plans to finish a CD of his, said his manager.
