D.C. mayor says Redskins name change worthy of discussion
WASHINGTON – Washington D.C. mayor hopes that both a move and name change are in the Redskins future.
CBS-DC reports that Mayor Vincent Gray said Wednesday that hopefully any potential name change of the franchise would accompany any discussion of moving the Redskins.
The Redskins name has long been considered a racial slur.
“I think (the name) has become a lightning rod, and I would love to be able to sit down with the team and others who are concerned with this and see if a change should be made,” Gray said.
