NTSB and FAA investigate Newport News plane crash

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WTVR) – The NTSB and FAA are investigating a plane crash that happened this afternoon.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport.

The Newport News Police Department said a plane hit a hanger.  Keith Holloway, a spokesperson for the NTSB, confirmed that someone was flying a Piper PA 28.  One person was on board, but there were no significant injuries.

The NTSB plans to assess the damage and work with the FAA to gather information.  However, they currently do not have any plans to send anyone to the scene.
