STUDY: Researchers turn off ‘fat gene’

(CBS News) —  Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley have pinpointed a gene that helps turn carbohydrates into fat. 

They found that when the gene was disabled in mice, carbs did not turn to fat.  

Doctors say the finding is significant because it may lead to new treatments for obesity and diabetes.
