Hokies to play Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl

The Hokies accepted a invitation to play in the Russell Athletic Bowl against former Big East rival Rutgers on December 28th at 5:30.

It is the 20th straight appearance for Coach Beamer and Virginia Tech, who have lost their last two bowl games.

The Hokies are 2-0 against Big East teams in bowls since 2006 and 11-3 all-time against Rutgers.

Virginia Tech played two teams from the Big East conference during the regular season and lost to Pittsburgh on September 15th, 35-17 and to Cincinnati on September 29th, 27-24.
