CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – There is an update on the Caroline County toddler being treated for a rare form of childhood leukemia.

CBS 6 News' Stephanie Rochon interviewed the parents of 2-year-old Quinlan Thomas back in August.

At the time, his family's health insurance company was denying them coverage for an experimental treatment that could save his life.

Although a bone marrow drive was recently held for Quinlan, doctors decided a stem cell transplant would work better.

Quinlan had the transplant before the holidays and he was allowed to go home this week. His mother says he is doing much better.

Additionally, Quinlan will be tested Monday to see if the stem cell transplant was successful.
