Sugary drinks linked to arthritis of the knee
(WTVR) - Sugary soft drinks are being linked to an unexpected ailment osteoarthritis of the knee.
Researchers followed more than 2,000 patients with arthritis in their knees.
X-rays show that patients who drink soda regularly, have a more narrow joint-space in their knees, especially men, and the results held whether or not the patients were overweight.
Researchers believe something in soft drinks may damage the knee-joint directly by limiting the amount of calcium absorption.
