Tangier Island, VA (WTVR) – Governor Bob McDonnell is taking steps to keep more human remains from being unearthed on Tangier Island.

The Governor has signed an agreement to build a new sea wall and jetty that will protect the island’s harbor.

Storms like Sandy and Irene have slowly eroded the beaches on one side of the Island, washing away headstones and making skulls and bones from cemeteries visible to beach-goers.
