Domestic altercation causes suspect to flee from scene

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Police received a call for a domestic altercation between a husband and wife in the 13500 block of Brandy Oaks Road.

It happened at 9:23 Monday night.

When officials arrived on scene, they discovered the wife was stabbed.  She was reported dead at the scene.  The woman was identified as 42-year-old Mia Nichell Williams.

The husband, 44-year-old Tony Williams, drove off in his car before officers arrived on scene.

Ten minutes later, his car was spotted by an alert officer near the Chesterfield County Government complex.  The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but they say Williams went onto Route 288 south, eventually going north onto Interstate 95 with officers following him.

Williams’ car crashed near the Willis Road exit.  Right after the crash, Williams attempted to run across several lanes of Interstate 95 and was hit by a car going southbound.  He suffered serious injuries and was taken to VCU Medical Center.

Williams was charged with first degree murder.  He is currently at Riverside Regional Jail pending his appeareance at Chesterfield Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
