DETROIT, MI (WTVR) - A Michigan man is campaigning against his daughter's high school principal who he says taught his daughter about the pornography industry.
"The principal should just come clean and say, 'Hey, I made a mistake," says Steve Werner, father of the 10th grader. "I checked the costume, and it looked appropriate."
He says when his daughter was sent to the principal's office because of her pirate girl costume, the principal gave her a detailed lesson about porn.
Werner is so upset about what happened, he bought a trailer and had his message plastered on the side of it.
It reads, "Mrs. Jones taught my daughter about porn," and he drives is all around town.
"...and she said, 'Honey, your outfit looks inappropriate. You look like a porn star.' And she's like, 'What do you mean a porn star? What's a porn star?' She explained to her what it was," says Werner. "My daughter was pretty shocked that her principal would explain to her what a pornstar is and what a pornstar does and about the pornography industry, and I thought it was wrong."
School leaders didn't send the girl home; they just made her cover up the bows on her stockings.
A district spokesman released a message saying, "The principal has the obligation to ensure a positive learning environment. The conversation between the student, principal, and counselor was in the context of addressing the disruption to the learning environment, the attire, and the concern for the student."
But Werner says his message isn't going away anytime soon, "She wasn't planning on going into porn, and the school don't teach it, and they should keep it out of the school."
Werner says people on Facebook have even threatened to burn his trailer.
Meanwhile, the principal is getting some support from students at Utica High School in the form of a "Team Jones" banner hung in the hallway of the school.
