HIGHLAND SPRINGS, Va. (WTVR) - In a game that meant just as much to each team, Highland Springs pulled away from a one point halftime lead to beat Atlee.
The Springers held a 14-13 advantage at the half, then blew the game open in the third quarter thanks to two TD runs from Ryan Scott, and an INT return for a score from Ralph Stovall.
The game was delayed in the second half due to a serious injury to an Atlee player. Gary Hess from SportsRadio 910 reported last night his sources had said the player was alert and had movement in all extremities at a local hospital.
With the win, the Springers stay unbeaten at 9-0 and set up a showdown with third-ranked Varina in Week 10. That game will be for a Division 6 playoff spot and the Capital District title. Atlee falls to 5-4 and may have fallen out of the Division 5 playoff race. They face Lee-Davis next week in what is certainly a must-win game for the Raiders to have any shot at the postseason
