FINAL SCORE FRIDAY: Petersburg at Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. (WTVR) – Hopewell improved their chances at their first playoff appearance in 8 years with a 36-14 win over Petersburg at Merner Field.

Hopewell scored first on a Zach Hipps field goal that was set up by an interception from Jarvezz Brown Taylor. But the Crimson Wave answered with a Khalid Morris 89 yard pass to Markice Street to take an 8-3 lead.

Reggie Butler connected with Shyheim Simpson later in the second quarter that put the Blue Devils ahead for good. The Blue Devils improve to 6-2, 4-1 in the Central. Hopewell was also second in Division 5 ratings points and this win should further secure their playoff spot. Petersburg falls to 3-6, 2-4.
