RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Police have released the name of a man killed in a double shooting in Richmond's Church Hill neighborhood Wednesday night.
It happened around 11 p.m. in the 2600 block of Q Street.
Richmond police said 18-year-old Rodney J. Shelton, of the 3200 block of Q Street, was found shot dead outside of a residence. A 19-year-old woman was also found shot.
Officials said officers in the area heard gun shots around 11 p.m. When they arrived to the scene, officers found two people shot outside of a residence.
"It sounded like they just dumped out a whole clip," Church Hill resident Lee Brazewell described. "It was a loud gun. I was upstairs in my room and didn't even think nothing of it."
"My friend stopped and told me who it was," said Church Hill resident Rashard Thomas. "And the person who died, I know."
The female victim was transported to VCU Medical Center after sustaining what investigators said were life-threatening injuries. She has since been upgraded to stable.
"I'm getting chill bumps just thinking about it now," Thomas said. "To know that it's right around the corner from me and my family and I have nieces and brothers, sister, mother, daddy, it's just bad and I wish we could just stop it because it's too much."
Richmond police announced Thursday afternoon that detectives are looking for a dark-colored mid-size, four-door vehicle with tinted windows similar to a Dodge Intrepid spotted leaving the area Wednesday night.
Additionally, detectives are canvassing the area looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000 or 514-TIPS.
A suspect description has not been released.
