ACCOMACK, Va. (WTVR)–The State Department of Environmental Quality is investigating how three pieces of raw chicken fell from the sky, hitting a teenager on the head.

Cassie Bernard said she was horseback riding in Accomack County last week when a one-foot long chunk of chicken hit her helmet. The other pieces, narrow and fleshy, fell nearby.

She said she and her group looked up, but saw nothing in the sky.

The DEQ continues to investigate, but have said that the chicken parts may have come from high-flying seagulls. A nearby Tyson chicken processing plant is where they likely got the chicken.
