VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WTVR) - Deputies in Virginia Beach are investigating a strange case, where children were found in a pack-n-play inside of a closed closet.

Investigators say it was a furniture repossession that brought them to the at home day care earlier this week.

When they entered the home they say they saw seven to eight toddlers kept in a small gated area, with little to no room to move.

But it was after they went to remove the repossessed furniture that they decided to call child protective services.

“When she walked out, I took it upon myself to walk around the corner. I thought there was another connecting bedroom, but there wasn’t,” said Deputy Rozos. “It was a pack-and-play in a small closet.”

Investigators didn't believe the woman who runs the daycare when she said there weren't any more kids inside the home.

The woman also says the parents of the children were aware the kids were taking naps in the closet.

Parents say the daycare is now closed until the investigation is complete.
