Richmond police investigate fatal shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Richmond police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in Church Hill.

They received the call at 12:31 a.m. for shots fired in the 1200 block of North 30th Street. Officers arrived within seconds and found 22-year-old Shaquan Dominique Mealey on a porch with a gunshot wound.

Later, police arrested 36-year-old Gerard Anthony Harvell in Virginia Beach in connection to the homicide.  Harvell is in jail without bond and is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Mealey was taken to VCU Medical Center where he later died.
