RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – There has been one reported case of someone getting sick in Virginia after eating Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, according to Virginia Department of Health Public Information Officer Michelle Stoll. Stoll said the case was reported in the eastern part of the state.
Virginia is among 18 states where the product was recalled after nearly 30 people got sick with salmonella infections.
“Customers who have purchased this item are urged to not eat the product, and to dispose of it or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund,” the grocery store posted on its website today. “Customers with questions may contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817 [Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time].”
According to the company, the recalled Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter comes in a 16 ounce, plastic jar with an expiration date of stamped below the lid. All code dates are included in this recall—up to and including 26JUL13 (July 26, 2013).
