RICHMOND (WTVR) – Hundreds of Richmond area non-profits are taking part in a massive fundraiser over 36 hours, called the Amazing Raise.

The day and a half long event raises money and awareness for 450 local non-profit organizations.

Throughout the fundraiser the groups are given different deadlines and goals where they receive bonuses in grant and prize money by the Community Foundation of Richmond and Central Virginia.  The non-profits are also competing for the jackpot, a $100-thousand grant.

The fundraiser urges people to donate $50 to their favorite non-profit listed on the Amazing Raise website.

The event started on Wednesday Sept. 19 at 6 a.m. and finishes Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
