Malden, Ma. (WTVR) – A Malden, Massachusetts man jumps in to save a neighbor trapped inside a sinking car.

Tom Cheffro says he heard a crash Tuesday afternoon, and when he went outside to check it out, he saw a car nearly submerged in his pool with his  85-year-old neighbor inside.

The driver lives in the house Cheffro’s home and apparently put the car in reverse instead of drive, stepped on the gas and went crashing through Cheffro’s fence and into his pool.

Cheffro pulled his neighbor from the water to safety, and an ambulance transported the elderly driver to the hospital a short time later.

As of Tuesday evening, he was still in the hospital but is expected to be okay.
