PETERSBURG, VA (WTVR) - The Virginia Air National Guard is working to help reduce crime in Petersburg by demolishing abandoned properties.
Crews from Virginia Beach are spending the next two weeks in the city, knocking down a dozen homes associated with known drug activity.
The guard members involved in the project have experience operating heavy machinery and have spent time serving our country in Afghanistan.
The demolition work is a part of their annual training.
