CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WTVR) — Chesterfield County police say a bridge on Pickett Avenue along the Chesterfield/Dinwiddie County line was shut down Monday night, after a report of a man with a gun.

Police say they received the call around 7:20 p.m. The caller told police a man was on the bridge claiming to have a gun. Officers and deputies from Chesterfield and Dinwiddie County responded to the scene. When they arrived, they closed the bridge to traffic as a precaution. They say they were able to find the man quickly, and take him into custody for being drunk in public. They say he did not have a gun in his possession.
