A Washington state teenager came close to death after crashing his car while texting.

The 18 year-old says he was making a U-turn when he careened off the side of the highway, and slammed into a fence. The fence post impaled the windshield, one end coming to a rest just above the steering wheel.

Miraculously, the driver only suffered minor lacerations to his face.
