CHICAGO (WTVR) – An off-duty firefighter in Chicago is being hailed a hero after he rescuing a one-year-old from Lake Michigan.
WGN-TV reports the firefighter was cleaning his boat at a local harbor when he heard a woman screaming.
High winds had blown the woman’s child, who was still strapped into a stroller, right off the pier and into the lake.
Lieutenant Steve O’Malley dove into the water and managed swim back to the pier holding the stroller above his head.
The little boy was uninjured and did not even have to be taken to the hospital.
