Video: How to survive a mass shooting
In the aftermath of the mass shooting at the Century 16 Movie Theaters in Aurora, the city of Houston has released a video tape (Full video at bottom of article) that shows you how to survive an “active shooter event.”
The video was produced with money from the Department of Homeland Security. It depicts a fictitious shooting inside an office building. WARNING: The video below includes an actor shooting a gun.
If you ever find yourself in the middle of an event where someone starts shooting a gun, your survival may depend on whether you have a plan.
“The plan doesn’t have to be complicated,” the video’s narrator says. “There are three things you can do that could make a difference: run, hide, fight.”
“I can’t imagine the horror and grief,” says Houston Mayor Annise Parker in a statement. “If it is at all possible for any good to come out of it, perhaps it can be letting people know the options to consider if it happens again.”
