BOSTON (WTVR) – Video posted on WBZ-TV's websiteTuesday shows a woman on a motorized scooter attempting to ride up an escalator in Boston.
Officials said surveillance cameras captured the ordeal on one of the city's Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) escalators last Friday.
Videos shows the woman on the scooter driving up to the escalator. As she tries riding up the moving stairway – she grabs onto the handrail -- and begins to be pulled up.
However, once the steps start to rise from the escalator, the chair begins to travel up, but is snagged. That's when the scooter dumps the woman backward and then topples over on top of her.
Then then video shows a man run back down the escalator to assist the woman. Other MBTA wokers also rushed to help.
WBZreported that the woman managed to walk away from the incident.
Officials in Boston said they hope adding more cameras will help quickly alert them to similar accidents and help curb crime.
