Flash flood watch Saturday evening
A warm front pushed north of the area Saturday morning, allowing a much more humid air mass to work into the region. As thunderstorms developed Saturday afternoon, slow-moving storms took advantage of the high humidity and dumped torrential downpours in some areas.
Thunderstorms will fade Saturday evening and Saturday night, but the day’s activity has kept a flash flood watch in effect for areas well northwest of the Richmond metro area.
On the map, red boxes indicate where flash flood warnings were issued Saturday evening. These areas picked up 2 to 4 inches of rain during the day, with more rain continuing to fall.
