BLACKSTONE, Va (WTVR) - An arrest by the Virginia State Police in another crime could hold the key to solving a double murder in Blackstone.
Blackstone Police Chief Nick Kusmiak told CBS 6 Senior Reporter Wayne Covil Friday that the person arrested could have key information about the shooting deaths of Brian Jones and his pregnant girlfriend, Jasmine Morrison.
Kuzmiak said officers are speaking with the suspect in hopes that he has information that could help solve the crime.
Additionally, the chief wants Blackstone residents to know that Jones and Morrison were targeted -- and that it was not a random shooting.
The bodies of Jones and Morrison were discovered Wednesday around 3 p.m. on the Fourth of July by a concerned neighbor, who found the back door to the home open.
Both of the victims were found on the first floor but in separate rooms.
If you have any information that could help investigators, call Blackstone Police at 434-292-3322 or Virginia State Police at 804-674-2000.
