Rappahannock Electric Cooperative: All power may not be back until weekend

Posted

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WTVR) –  The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative said Tuesday that it may not have power turned back on to all its customers until the weekend.

The co-op said as of 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, 6,000 customers were still without power. It expected to restore power to most of its customers by Tuesday night.

However, REC said repairs to heavily damaged areas in Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock may not complete until the weekend.

“While our focus continues to be restoring service to the greatest number of members as quickly and safely as possible,” David F. Koogler, REC vice president of customer service, said in a statement, “repairs to some lines serving fewer than ten member homes or businesses may not be completed until later in the week.  We know being without electricity is a burden, especially in this type of weather.  We thank our members for their patience and understanding.”

To report a power outage, please call 1-800-552-3904 or visit www.myrec.coop and report your outage online.

REC provides power to more than 155,000 customers in 22 Virginia counties.
