Verizon having statewide cell phone texting issues

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – If your cell phone provider is Verizon Wireless, you may have noticed that you’re having trouble sending and receiving text messages Sunday morning.

A representative tells CBS 6 that the company was alerted to the issue at around 9:00 a.m. Sunday, and says that crews have been dispatched to fix the problem as quickly as possible. At this time, the company can’t say if the outage was weather related, but they do tell us this problem is affecting cell phones across the state.

The company could not give a time estimate for full restoration of service, but we will continue to monitor the issue and bring you the very latest on WTVR.com.
