RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - If you're dealing with storm damage following Monday's storms there's a checklist you should go over before you call your homeowner's insurance.

Mike Fisher with State Farm was conducting site visits today and gave us this list of tips:

1. If your claim doesn't meet your deductible, you shouldn't claim it.

2. Mitigate damages

3. Document your damages with photographs

4. Keep receipts for claim related expenses

5. Get estimates from licensed and insured contractors
