CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WTVR) – A silent vigil took place outside the Rotunda at the University of Virginia Wednesday. According to an email from Faculty Senate Chair George Cohen, the vigil was to support of the reinstatement of ousted U.Va. President Teresa Sullivan.

Earlier Wednesday, Interim President Carl Zeithaml spoke for the first time about his new position.

“This is a challenging time, but any doubts of passion for UVa, just read my e-mails and listen to my voicemails,” said Zeithaml.

Zeithaml said that his number one goal is to make sure that step by step they will rebuild trust. He said that he has always spoken highly of his colleagues and they should unite in common purpose and move the University forward.

When asked if he had any intentions to take the President job permanently, he responded no.
