CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Police in Chesterfield are investigating a stabbing that took place Thursday in a rural, normally quiet part of the county.

Investigators said a group of people had gathered a home in the 15000 block of Rowlett Road for a party, when a fight broke out and a person was stabbed.

Neighbors said the crime came as a complete shock.

In fact, one man told CBS 6 News' Jon Burkett that most of the people he knows are retired.

"I didn't know nothing like that would happen around here," he said. "Everybody gets along around here."

Police said the person who was stabbed suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are searching for the suspect.
