HANOVER, Va. (WTVR)--We've learned more about what happened inside a Hanover county home, when 30-year-old mother of two was shot by her estranged husband.

Hanover investigators say Saturday afternoon 33-year-old Ryan Markham forced his way into the Candleberry Drive home of his estranged wife and opened fire with an assault rifle, and Sabrina died on the spot.

Her boyfriend was hit multiple times but still managed to grab a handgun and fire back-hitting the husband, said police.

People living in the neighborhood said they are used to gun shots during hunting season, but never expected anything like what they heard yesterday.

Mary Foster, who lives next door to murder victim Sabrina Markham, said she's had a hard time comprehending the chaos that erupted just a few hundred feet away.

“Hanover police came running by me, saying ‘Ma’m, you get in the house,’” said Foster.

According to a few of Sabrina’s friends, her boyfriend was Blake Minter, some neighbors and a police source confirmed his hospitalization.

As of 11 p.m. Sunday night, Ryan Markham is still at VCU Medical center.

Once he's discharged deputies will arrest him and charge him with the murder of his estranged wife.

Sgt. Chris Whitley said that arrest warrants have been obtained for Markham, of the 7400 block of Colts Neck Road in Mechanicsville, in connection to the shooting.

The warrants are for murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and aggravated malicious wounding, said Whitley.
