FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WTVR) - The congregation of a historic church where George Washington once worshiped is asking the Virginia Supreme Court to give them their chapel back.

The Falls Church Anglican filed a petition for appeal Friday, asking the high court to overturn the recent decision of a circuit court judge.

The judge had ruled the historic building, which dates back some 278 years, must be returned to the Episcopal diocese.

Members of the church broke away from the diocese in a dispute over theology and homosexuality.
