Report: Eligible borrowers could be entitled to foreclosure refund

Borrowers are passing up the chance to have their foreclosure cases checked for mistakes.

An article in USA Today highlights the matter.

The review could help people get access to hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution.

Even so, the article reports that less than 165,000 people have applied for the program—or four percent of the 4.1 million who received letters about te free reviews.

There is a July 31 deadline to request a review.

Several mortgage providers and federal banking regulators agreed to review cases in a settlement over alleged foreclosure abuse.
