RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Some downtown workers were forced to stay their offices Wednesday.

Firefighters kept people inside buildings near 10th and Cary Streets around noon and blocked off several nearby streets to drivers because of a gas leak.

Fire investigators said contractors hit the line while working in the area and were able to shut off the gas quickly.

Crews worked for much of the afternoon to make the repairs.
