HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Henrico Police identified the body found at the Essex Village apartments, off Laburnum Ave. in eastern Henrico County, as that of Orlando Isaiah Baylor, 21.
Detectives are continuing the investigation into Baylor's death.
Police were called to the 100 block of Engleside Drive around 4:00 a.m. after someone heard gunshots. A neighbor reportedly found Baylor's body in the 100 block of the complex.
"Residents of the complex checked the area of (unit) 101 and located an adult male face down," said Lt. Banks.
Hours after the victim was discovered and his mother arrived at the complex. At the time of the deadly attack she was in Petersburg and took a taxi cab to the Essex Village Apartments.
Henrico Police were combing the complex overnight and by sunrise a forensics unit was still busy collecting evidence. As part of the investigation, detectives were removing siding from parts of the unit to check for bullet holes.
"Forensics detectives, they look for specifics; they look in specific areas and in specific corners of the buildings," added Lt. Banks.
This is the fourth homicide this year in Henrico County.
