Thomas Jefferson statue unveiled at the Virginia Capitol
RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - Nearly 230 years after Thomas Jefferson designed the Virginia Capitol, a statue of him is now on permanent display at the landmark.
The $300,00 sculpture titled “Thomas Jefferson: Architect of Liberty,” was funded by private donations and was unveiled Thursday for an invitation-only gathering in the subterranean capitol extension beneath the south lawn of capitol square.
A public dedication was held there this morning.
