Richmond Police find car involved in Shockoe hit and run

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Police have located the car believed to be involved in a deadly weekend hit and run, according to a search warrant filed April 23 in Richmond Circuit Court.

Court documents indicated a 2006 Honda Accord, driven by Jennifer Jon Slemp, hit two men who fell into her lane of travel along S. 14th Street and Canal Street around 2:00 a.m. Saturday. The men, David Boyd and Brendan Ellis, were involved in a fight at the time. Boyd's father told the Richmond Times Dispatch his son was trying to break up the fight.

The Honda's front and rear tires hit both men in the head, according to the documents. Boyd was killed, Ellis was seriously injured.

Police indicated blood found on the car matched blood found at the accident scene. Police also took hair samples from the vehicle, according to the court documents.

Police did not indicate whether Slemp was in custody or if any charges have been filed.
