RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – It’s official. Richmond is one of the nation’s buggiest cities, at least according to a survey from Off! insect repellant.

The company ranked the top 50 U.S. cities most affected by mosquitoes, asking nearly 5,000 Americans to rate how often they have to wear insect repellant in their hometowns.

The results: Richmond came in tenth place, as 34.2% reported that they don’t walk outside without layering on bug spray.

Nationwide the number was much lower, with just an average of 9% reporting they always wear insect repellant outdoors.

Coming in first place: the Tampa, Fl region. But another Virginia city made the top 10. The Virginia Beach/Norfolk area came in fourth.
