HOUSTON, Texas (WTVR)---A drunk driver who killed a young man last year was ordered to stand at an intersection Saturday, April 21, and wear a sign describing his crime.

It was the first Saturday out of four that Michael Giancona has to stand on the corner of the crash site all day wearing a sign that reads "I killed Aaron Coy Pennywell while driving drunk."

It’s a punishment family members of the victim demanded and the judge honored.

Michael Giacona's van crashed into Aaron Pennywell's Mustang around 2 a.m. June 25 of last year.

Aaron, who had just turned 20 years old, was thrown from the car and died at the scene.

Giaconda was convicted of a DWI.

He was sentenced to one year in jail and served only 90 days because of good behavior.

He is now out on a two-year probation.

Friends of Aaron gathered across the street to draw attention to the man wearing the sign.

They made posters that say "The man across the street killed Aaron Pennywell drunk driving"

They approached cars telling people what happened and handed out bracelets in memory of their friend.
