Shockoe Bottom hit and run leaves 1 dead

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmond Police are asking the public's help in finding a driver they say struck two men, killing one,  in Shockoe Bottom early Saturday morning.

RPD spokeswoman Dionne Waugh tells CBS 6 that the incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, when a fight broke out in the 00 block of S 14th St. Investigators say two men were knocked down into a lane of travel and were subsequently struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. One of them, David M. Boyd, 25, of Chesterfield, died of his injuries. The second man is a 23 year-old, also from Chesterfield. His injuries are described as serious, but he is in stable condition.

The vehicle was last seen heading south on 14th St. Investigators are working the case and asking anyone who may have witnessed the fight or the crash to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
