Over 100 tornadoes were reported to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center Saturday and Saturday night.  Some of these were multiple reports of the same tornado as it moved from town to town.  Kansas was the center of the tornado activity, including one tornado near downtown Wichita Saturday evening.  A tornado struck near Woodward, OK, just after midnight, killing five people.

Severe weather continued overnight and there was a tornado warning around daybreak Sunday near Tulsa, OK.  Some additional tornadoes occurred Sunday afternoon in southern Minnesota, northern Nebraska (including right along the South Dakota border), and northeast Oklahoma.

The storm system will greatly weaken as it travels eastward.  There is just the slight risk of severe storms Monday near Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania and New York.

By the time the remnants of this system arrives Monday night into Tuesday, our area will just see the chance of a few scattered showers and thunderstorms.
