Police: Armed robber targets victim near VCU campus

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Police are looking for a suspect after an armed robbery near VCU’s main campus Thursday morning.

VCU police said the victim, who was not a student, was robbed at the corner of Pine and Grace streets around 9:20 a.m.

Official said the victim and suspect were walking past each other, the suspect asked to speak with the victim.

Cops then said the suspect pointed a small black handgun at the victim, and demanded they hand over everything.

The suspect took off on foot toward Belvidere and Broad with the victim’s wallet, which included $93 cash, an ID and social security card.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing around 175 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage jacket and black pants.

Because of the incident, official said both Richmond and VCU police have stepped up patrols in the area.
