PORTLAND, Ore. (WTVR) - VCU Rams head basketball coach Shaka Smart admitted his team did not play perfect basketball in the second half of Thursday night's 62-59 win over Wichita State University.
The 12-seed Rams, who lead by nine at halftime, found themselves behind the 5-seed Shockers late in the second half.
After the game, Coach Smart said he was impressed with the way his team made plays with the game on the line.
"Our guys hung in there," Smart said after the game. "They really showed a level of resolve and battled. Even after Wichita State took the lead, we didn't put our heads down. We kept fighting and then these guys really made some huge plays."
